Sweet Baby Boy

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I was able to do my first baby shoot. It went fairly well considering that I don't have the best camera and we had to shoot everything indoors. Here are a few pictures of the little guy. He is 3 months old and has one of the best temperaments of any baby I have ever met.

Fun in the leaves

Well, it is officially fall. We went outdoors to enjoy the brisk air and made our first leaf pile. Oh, did Ella ever love it!

Silver Lake 2009

We decided that we would take this week and have a little family vacation up in a little town called Mears, Michigan. Brent's parents own a cute little condo directly on the Silver Lake. Although it has been a bit chillier then we had hoped, we are still having a nice time. The sunsets have been amazing so I wanted to share a few of them...

Expecting

What a week Ella and I had. We were lucky enough to get to go back to MN for a whole week and spend some fabulous time with my parents as well as throw in a few days with the rest of the extended family. During this time we had a baby shower for my cousin Heather, who was gracious enough to allow me to snap some shots of her that evening with her cute belly. Unfortunately this little session was very "on the fly" so we didn't have much to work with on the background. She is such a pretty subject that it didn't matter so much. Here are just a few of my favorites...

Little Miss Cama

Last Wednesday my girlfriend asked me to take some shots of her daughter since she hadn't taken any herself in awhile. This was great for me because someday I would like to do this for a living but I have a LOT to learn. I feel like if I need to be at 100% to do this as a profession, I am currently at about 15% of the way there. So, still so much to learn. But hey, you've got to start somewhere. So thank you Eris for asking me to do this, and thank you Cama for being such an adorable subject.

I was taking photos of one of my friends little girl and had to bring Ella with me to the photo shoot. I caught this picture of her and had to post it...I just love her so much. She is getting so old!

Summer Time Fun

We got back from the beach a couple of weeks ago. I will hopefully post some of those pictures soon. Until then I wanted to share these pics of Ella with her new sprinkler. She hated the pool and ocean so we weren't sure how she would take to the sprinkler, but surprisingly she seemed to really enjoy it!

So Sweet

A few nights ago my husband quietly went into our daughters and took this picture of her sleeping. Oh how I love her so little right now. She is so precious and is just an angel (especially when asleep...ha!) Just had to post. I'll be sad when she no longer needs to cuddle with her bunny.

Photoshop here I come!!!

I have completed two photoshop classes. So far we haven't gone over much of anything so I am becoming a bit antsy. I have a feeling that this is not going to answer many of my questions about how to make my photos outstanding, but we shall see. The other problem is that the college is having the class taught in PS-CS3, when CS4 is now the latest and greatest version. I don't really get how or why they would do this. I did however get CS4 on my computer so I am ready to go. Pretty crazy all of the fun things you can do with it. I hope I can catch on quickly.

B&W

Last week we were suppose to take pictures on our Black and White setting. Unfortunately I didn't have more then 50 minutes to take a few pictures so they didn't turn out the best and I was very uninspired. That being said, I did find two that I liked. I think I am going to go around my town and take a few more so that if or when we move I can put them into a neat book about our life in Elkin.

Cheesy And Simple But I Had To Post

Here are a couple of my landscape pictures and still life. Nothing too great but I am still proud of them none the less. I love that I am slowly learning how to use the settings. I'll post more of my assignments tomorrow.

The First Day

This is my first blog. I'm not sure how well I will do with it, but I needed a place to write about the things I am doing as well as post some of my pictures. I am some what a new mom. I have a daughter that just turned one on January 30th. She takes up most of my time. With the few hours that I have left, I try and spend them with my husband or friends. I really enjoy community theatre so you will find me participating in different productions much of the time. I am also becoming enamored with photography. I got a new camera for my last birthday, a Nikon D40. It is an entry level hobby camera but I am enjoying it and am taking a class at a local community college in hopes of learning, and possibly mastering its features. The class began a week ago and we have a shooting assignment every week this last week we started out with doing portraits. This week we are concentrating on landscapes. I was super excited this week because I figured out how to capture movement of some water at a nearby park. I hope that someday I can look back and marvel at how far I have come as a photographer. Until then it is baby steps. I guess I will just have to learn from my child...it takes a long time and patients to learn how to do something new that you have never done before!
